ACTH(4–10) analogue. Subject of neuroprotection and cognitive performance studies in rodent models.
01 · Overview
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from the ACTH(4–10) fragment — Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro — with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension that stabilizes it against peptidase cleavage. Developed in the 1980s at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow, Semax is on the Russian List of Vital and Essential Drugs.
Published research has focused on BDNF upregulation in the hippocampus, neuroprotection in ischemia models, and cognitive performance endpoints. Alvar supplies Semax as a free-base solution for dose-flexible research use.
