Tetrapeptide linked to telomerase expression research. Studied in senescence and pineal pathway models.
01 · Overview
Epithalon (also Epitalon, Epithalone) is a tetrapeptide — Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly — characterized by Vladimir Khavinson's group at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. It is the active fragment of epithalamin, a peptide extract from the pineal gland.
Research has linked epithalon to telomerase expression modulation in somatic cell cultures, senescence-associated endpoints, and pineal-axis endocrine research. Published studies from the Khavinson group include animal-lifespan and human-retina trials.
